Meet Nilah, a girl from The Nilgiris who sparks pride.
In the school garden, Nilah kneels beside a patch of soft mud, her two thick braids brushing her shoulders as she holds up a tiny trowel. Her classmates cluster around her, curious and eager. “See,” she says softly, pressing the trowel into the soil, “you scoop from the edge, not the middle. That way the roots don’t get hurt.” She demonstrates just her Appa had shown her.
Handcrafted with love by women of The Nilgiris, Nilah is made from soft, upcycled fabrics and safe, child-friendly materials.
