I first came across The Good Doll at Kala Ghoda in 2023, where I bought a little bear for my mum. The brand stayed in my mind since, and when I became an aunt, I knew her first doll needed to be one whose skintone resembled that of most people around her (I wanted to get her a companion, too), and I would be so much happier if it was made from natural materials and provided due recognition to the workers behind it. So I am delighted with the purchase, and the little bag and story pamphlets that came with it. My next purchase may be a doll for myself :)
I’m a huge fan of your collections. I recently brought home your family set- appa, amma, and 3 children, and they have such a special place in my home.
Your dolls actually mirror my own childhood so beautifully. My favorite summer memories are filled with the sight of my appa sipping tea, my amma busy at her sewing machine, and my akka and me playing with flowers and mud. However, there is one very important piece of my childhood story missing from the set.
In my family, my anna (elder brother) was my hero, taking me on endless bicycle rounds and being that perfect mix of protective and fun. While the current boy doll in the set is adorable, he feels more like a younger brother than the "big brother" figure I grew up with.
I would love to see a character introduced specifically as an elder brother. Having a doll that captures that "big brother" energy would make my collection feel truly complete and represent so many families like mine.
Thank you for creating such nostalgic and beautiful toys. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
