High in the cool, misty Nilgiri hills, the forest was humming with excitement, today was the grand birthday the bear who lived among the sholas and blue-gum trees. One by one, they padded into the clearing: the eldest bear carrying kurinji flowers, another balancing a pot of wild Nilgiri honey, and the littlest cub clutching eucalyptus leaves shaped into tiny party flags.
The shola forest came alive as they worked together. Some bears hung garlands of purple kurinji blossoms, others laid out banana leaves for plates, and two mischievous bears climbed a mossy boulder to set up a “stage” for the evening dance. The air smelled of damp earth, honey, and eucalyptus — a true Nilgiris celebration.
As the sun dipped behind the tea estates, the ten bears gathered around a glowing firefly lantern. Together, they made a wish for more birthdays, more honey, and more happy days in their beloved Nilgiris home.
