Sterling Fernhill
Surrounded by ferns and with the famed Nilgiri Mountain Train chugging down below, this resort spread over 8 acres offers a truly relaxed holiday.
Incidentally, when we moved to the Nilgiris 6 years ago, we had taken up a small cottage in the outskirts of Ooty. From that cottage, we could see this Sterling property at a distance and on top of a mountain. An enterprise was not on our mind back then but, couldn’t have imagined that we would be retailing at this property one day :).
Sterling Holiday Resorts Limited was established in 1986 in Chennai, India, and opened its first resort, Lake View Kodaikanal (the resort has been recently renamed as Kodai – By The Lake). Sterling Holidays expanded to 11 resorts by the year 1988. In 2010, the company changed its brand name from Sterling Resorts to Sterling Holidays. The holiday company currently operates 44 resorts in 40 scenic destinations across the country.
It’s heartening to see such large corporations empower local leadership to make decisions that is right for the respective regions. We are happy to find some shelf space for our thegooddoll at Sterling Fernhill!
